Sprained Ankle

So I haven’t written in a while but I’ve still been keeping up with the Kickboxing 2x a week as well as lifting almost everyday. The running’s slowly fell to the wayside.

Last night I was at my volleyball game and went up to block and came down wrong on my ankle. Now I’m sitting here with my ankle the size of a softball. And I’m registered for a half marathon on Saturday! BOO!!! I’m so sad and annoyed!

Does anyone have any recovery tips for me aside from ice? I need to get a brace too, I think. Any tips there?

So the 10 Mile was great! There were so many people running and cheering! We ran from the Metrodome to the Capitol. It started to rain at about mile 8 and really poured at about 9. Then I finished!! I didn’t get my goal time but I did do better than my last 10 mile time!

I was so excited that they did so well! Just another 25 Days until my last race of the season!!

Before the run that is! You didn’t think I’d quit kickboxing??? I’ve only been going to the class religiously for the past 8 months!! hahaah! :-D

So it was actually pretty easy for me. My knee didn’t hurt like it did Monday but my hamstrings were tight from running and lifting the nigth before. I have to stretch more. I rarely do that….oops!

After working out I went to Amber and Megan’s and Amber had made dinner! YUM! I was late but she had it waiting for me!! What a good friend! It was really good stir fry. Tonight she’s making something else..but I don’t know what. Then it’s the high school homecoming football game so I think we’re going to try to go to that. Maybe I’ll hit the gym just for a little cardio or something. Or maybe I’ll try to talk them in to taking Koda for a walk, maybe even with Bo Linda (my lab) but Bo’s not very good for walks. We just let her run around the yard together when Koda comes over. Just a few more days!!! I’m excited and the race is all over the news!!!! YIKES!!!

After lifting with Megan I met up with her, Amber and Lisa at her house. Amber and Lisa were going to go for a little run and I thought I’d be up for it. But my legs were SO tired! But I went out and did it anyway! Megan and Koda (her dog) came too! I kept up with them for the most part, but I didn’t have music and that made it tough! Anyway it was good. I made it at a great pace too! :-D But I’m paying for it today…..I’m SO TIRED!!!!

So I’ve been working out with a trainer at Gold’s since January and this was my last session! I was sad. But I just can’t afford it now that I am trying to buy a house!

She killed my lower body, but it went really really fast! i didn’t even realize that the half hour had gone by until she said “That’s it!” I was like no way! haha.

TC 10 Mile is just around the corner!!!

So the Twin Cities 10 mile is on Sunday and I can’t believe it! It really seems like just a little while ago that Megan told me about this race! Crazy! In reality it was like in May or June when she told me about it! Man this summer’s flown by!

Is anyone else running this race? Or doing the Marathon? Maybe someday I’ll attempt a Marathon…….maybe.

I emailed some friends and my family to see if they would want to come and meet me at the finish line or alone the trail. We’ll see. I’m sure it would be great to see familiar faces. I don’t have the most confidence in myself when it comes to my running so I am super nervous about running with Megan, Lisa and Amber. I’m also nervous about Heidi begin in a different starting corral than the rest of us. I hope we can get together at some point. I just don’t know how those things work out. I’m very very excited to get a medal at the end, everyone gets one for finishing the 10 mile. I only have one other medal from a volleyball tournament or something back in high school so I’m about due for another medal here pretty soon.
